Princess Warrior

Everyone goes through trials and tribulations, even unbelievers.  The Bible says, “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45.  I’ve been through the ‘loss trial’.  I lost my dad over 8 years ago and that feeling of hurt broke my ‘feeling bones’ and broke my heart.  My heart is wounded and my soul is scarred.  The journey of grief made me a stronger woman in the Lord.  It was a long, tiresome path to regularity and a different happiness.  My dad was the rock of our family, but we have to remember God is our true rock. He is our deliverer from pain and suffering.  Dads on this vapor-like earth are for a moment in time.  We have to remember God is our heavenly, everlasting Father.

I have also felt the ‘abandonment tribulation’.  No, my mom and dad didn’t leave me on a cold doorstep, but many people on this ‘fleshly’ earth will hurt and disappoint you.  Feelings will arise of desertion.  As a human, you burden yourself by exploring the ‘crushed’ desert.  Broken promises grow on palms.  Lies of deceit will punch us in the trusting soul.  Trudge out of the ‘battered’ desert and look to God.  He is the only one that will never dishearten.  He has everything we thirst for in a desolate land: love, friendship, peace, salvation, but most of all, He is our Father.  He is true and faithful till the end of the age and beyond. People will always bruise and dissatisfy, but we have a friend in Jesus! HE is the one who will never leave or forsake you!

Princess Warrior

I stand upon ‘Mount foggy trial and fiery Tribulation’
My strengthened armor glowing with ambers and ash
of this earthly, vague land

Demons slink and sly
clamoring with daggers
gaining closeness into righteous soul
Backstabbing liars deceive, slither
in eerie, misty darkness they test with turmoil

But I, princess warrior, sit on beastly Friesian
Boldly, I clasp leather reigns, steady at the mane helm
Pine needles fall to fleshly ground from fright
Oak branches bend to meet thirsty Son

Smoke of wickedness billows
 towards hoofs of holy
Up tender leg to brave, taught withers

A war has risen amongst ‘Forest of Faith’
Stand firm my ‘soul steed’
Endure evil and black flames

Horns have sounded with cutting sharpness
Wind flicks fire-dust
Sooty wretchedness surrounds
Wait! My saving cross is heart bound!

Princess warrior, charge into ebon ravine!
Trample, snap foolish tongues!
Cut and pierce with saintly arrow!
Gallop with heavenly brashness
Stride with angelic soldiers

Holy Spirit engraved in shield
Sword molded with sharpened truth
Armor glistens with faithful fierceness
Come! Friesian of God’s realm
Let’s beat, flog, slay corrupt dragons
I, princess warrior, will rise!

  2. I've read your story and poem twice now. I love it. It feels like it's coming from the deepest part of your heart. Keep letting your stories tell your feelings because there lies your talent and it shows. I can even see you doing a daily blog and others relating to your feelings. And maybe that is where your talent will be discovered. And if your stories are helping you in some way, they may also help someone else !!!
Keep writing Brandy, I know this is your journey in life.

Little Hat

Little Hat   There is a little cowboy hat that hangs in my blue Malibu.   It once hung in my dad’s Ford F-150 and many trucks to come.   It is worn, faded, but still “alive”.   Just like that little hat, my dad came home from many roof jobs; worn, faded, but “alive” with God’s strength.   He was happy to walk through the door to the O’Banion clan.   He was met with “love bombs” of hugs and kisses.   The little cowboy watched through the windshield at this bond.   It nested in the truck waiting for the next journey.   What will the next day bring?   Will it bring work, travel, church, joy, or sorrow?   When you look at a trivial object, that object is part of your “life ride”.   It’s here for a moment, then moths or rust destroy. Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.   But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where mo...

Major Attributes a Godly Man Inherits

Last night my husband and I ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We chatted and laughed as the colorful decor listened to our conversation. When we were done exploring each other’s day over tortilla chips and queso, we walked to the counter to pay our bill. As the waitress took our payment she asked if we were on a date. I said, “Yes, a married date.” We walked through the doors, full of attentive affection and love.  Our attributes as a couple shined like the yellow chairs amidst the restaurant. Godly attributes of a man should majorly impact his wife and others around him.  Those godly attributes should entail: Love that is found within the gold seams of a bible that is read by a husband under a glistening lamp. Leadership that is drafted into prayer with his family   Guidance that is architected into wise words with his wife and children Protector of souls and warrior of hearts Casting out a safety net for finances, provision, and trials Disciple...

Silver Knight

Little boys and little girls around the world can be heard calling for, "Daddy, father, dad!" I must of uttered dad a hundred times a day. “Dad, can you help me with a math problem?", “Dad, can you fix this and fix that?", “Dad! There's a spider in my room!" Dads' are the heads of the household. They are spiritual leaders and advice givers. They are comforters and protectors of clans throughout different villages. My dad was the king of our Irish clan. He was a good ole' southern gentleman, so he always slipped a "hun” in his statements. He was a wonderful Christian man, always giving glory to God. He was a sound and stable oak, never bent or shaken. Fear? He did not know fear. The only fear that was fashioned in his heart, was the fear of God. My dad stood his manly ground each day, battling earthly forces.  My dad was always a detail and knowledge encyclopedia. Many times he would give me advice on how to save money (I was a...
